Current Evolution of EBP Audits + Revealing the Mysteries of Form 5330

Two Hours of CE Credit for ASPPA, NIPA, and other organizations should be self-reported and certificate of attendance will be provided. ERPA credit has been applied for. Each attendee should register and log into the webinar individually to watch and listen to the presentation to receive CE credit. Listening by phone or in a group will not qualify for CE credit.

Current Evolution of EBP Audits:
Moore Colson will speak on current hot topics impacting EBP audits including remote auditing, considerations for 2019/2020 plan year audits, subsequent event disclosures, efficiency ideas, and the delay of the new EBP audit standard (SAS 136). In addition, they’ll briefly touch on the latest DOL/IRS relief due to COVID-19 and what it means for Plan Sponsors and auditors.

Revealing the Mysteries of Form 5330:
Does reading the Form 5330 instructions seem like reading an alien language? This session with Kristina Kananen will review all the reasons a Form 5330 is filed, how each is accomplished, and when the reporting ends.

Kristina will cover:
• Correctly identifying late deposits or prohibited transactions
• Determining how to report and when
• Identifying the amount involved and the correct penalty

Candace Jackson, CPA

Candace is a Director in Moore Colson’s Business Assurance Practice. Candace manages audit and review teams and serves as a practice area leader in the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan practice. Candace’s professional background in public accounting, along with her strong interpersonal and team-oriented skills, complement Moore Colson’s already diversified Business Assurance team. In addition to her expertise in employee benefit plan audits, Candace also has extensive experience serving clients in the transportation, distribution, and services industries.
Kristina Kananen

Kristina Kananen has been responsible for DATAIR’s Pension Reporter system since 2000, serving as a liaison between the programmers and the government; the programmers and the clients; and the government and the clients. After Gerald Ford graciously signed ERISA into law in 1974, it seemed like a viable career choice for Kristina to be involved in qualified retirement plans. She has worked with defined benefit plans and defined contribution plans: proposing them, setting them up, administering them and terminating them.

Brian is a Partner at Moore Colson in the firm’s Real Estate Practice. Brian has significant experience in the real estate and hospitality industries and is also a practice area leader in Moore Colson’s Employee Benefit Plan Practice. Brian works with a variety of employee benefit plans as well as plans required to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
